Laurel has worked for the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Missouri Game and Fish, the National Park Service and several biological laboratories.
She has edited scientific papers, and written and published numerous popular articles about health issues, wildlife, riparian habitats and caves.
'Freeloader' was based on a new viral organism that was introduced from a geothermal vent; many of her creative endeavors are inspired
by her love for nature and its creatures. She considers herself a teacher, though not in the traditional sense, and hopes to
influence others with her writing and film work. Laurel holds a BS in biology from Central Missouri State University.
